The Greater Toledo Youth Service Day
April 21,2007

On Saturday, April 21, 2007, CYE with support from Youth Service America, the Toledo Zoo, United Way of Greater Toledo Volunteer Center and the Toledo Youth Commission held the third annual Greater Toledo Youth Service Day.

This event was held in conjunction with the National & Global Youth Service Day and locally involved over 1600 youth in 49 projects throughout the area.  The Mayor of the City of Toledo was so impressed with the efforts of our youth that he personally thanked, in writing, each youth group and family unit that participated in the service projects.

The Greater Toledo Youth Service Day featured morning service projects throughout Greater Toledo, followed by a luncheon sponsored by Subway and Pepsi at The Toledo Zoo.  The luncheon ceremony included proclamation presentations from Mayor of the City of Toledo, Carleton S. Finkbeiner, Toledo Councilman, Mike Craig and Carol Haddix for the Lucas County Commissioners.  The luncheon event also included the unveiling of the CYE Youth Walk of Fame plaque.

A grateful Greater Toledo Area benefited from the labor of over 1600 youth on the weekend of April 20, 2007.  These youth were not only part of a great local project; they were part of a world-wide effort to bring attention to the great works of youth.  CYE thanks all of those that participated!
