Dee Washington
Project Manager / Bridges Out of Poverty

 

Deirdre, better known as ‘Dee” came on board at The Community Partnership in July 2006 as the Bridges Out Of Poverty (BOP)Project Manager.  Her responsibilities include, but are not limited: coordinating and observation of Day 1 Bridges trainings for area organizations, providing technical support to the trainers, evaluation and billing for all trainings.

Trained as both a BOP and Framework for Understanding Poverty facilitator, Dee also provides trainings to the community at large. Dee is also a parent education facilitator for the ACT Raising Safe Kids Program through the Medical University of Toledo. Based on research that indicates that effective parenting is a critical factor to prevent youth behavior problems, the APA created and launched Parents Raising Safe Kids, the ACT 8-week program. The program focuses primarily on educating parents and other adults who raise and care for young children to create early environments that protect them from violence.
Before coming to The Partnership Dee work for 10 years in the field of prevention as a facilitator and coordinator of school based alcohol another drug prevention programming.

Favorite part about working at The Community Partnership?
The sense of family among the staff. It’s like a combo of the Waltons and the Cosby Show
 
What is your biggest accomplishment?
My two girls: Gabrielle 13 and Tomya 5

Where did you attend high school? 
St. Ursula Academy

Where did you attend college? 
Bachelors in Psychology for University of Toledo & my Masters in Counseling for Heidelberg College

What did you want to be when you were a kid?
A Child Psychiatrist in private practice  
 
What was your first job?
I owned my own business at 14 years old: D & B Janitorial. We had a contract to clean St. Angela Hall (the elementary/jr high I attended)
 
Do you have any hobbies?
Anything that has to do with music. I dance and play the piano. Music lyrics are great for me to express my feelings.

24/7 –I’m a mom!! J

I trained for the Olympics when I was in jr high and my coaches at Kent State were Cathy Rigby and Kurt Thomas.  (Old School Heros)

Self Centered People who are not compassionate
