The CYE Youth Walk of Fame recognizes youth who make a positive impact on our community.

1. The award recipient must fall into one of the following categories and meet the category’s specific criteria:

feetService to Others— this youth gives of oneself as an individual or as part of a group to improve the quality of life for people, animals or the environment. This service can be provided at home, at school or in the community.

feetPersonal Courage—this youth has overcome a personal challenge or handicap in order to help and/or to inspire others.

feetSocial Enterprise—This youth has organized a business, fund raiser or community event that contributes financially to a cause or individual in need.

feetSharing Talents—This youth generously uses creative gifts and talents (visual and/or performing arts) in order to bring comfort or pleasure to others without receiving monetary gain

2. The award recipient must have shown initiative, tenacity and unselfishness in pursuit of his/her goal.

3. Award recipients must be in grades K-12 when the nomination is submitted.

4. The award recipient must be currently implementing the service/activity for which he/she is being nominated or completed the service/activity within the year of the nomination.

5. The award recipient must be nominated by someone who is familiar with the recipient’s work (group leader, clergy, teacher, service official, classmate, etc.),

6. Submit nomination applications on or before February 15, 2008 on-line at www.communityprevention.org.

7. Finalists will be selected by March 15, 2008. The award recipients will be honored at the Greater Toledo Youth Service Day reception held at the Toledo Zoo on April 26 2008. A dinner celebration will ensue in either April or May for all recipients and their parents.

Nominations for this award can be submitted by a representative from Toledo area organizations, schools, churches, or youth groups. Youth is defined as male or female school aged (K-12). CYE does not discriminate against its applicants based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.

Winners will be selected by a group of judges who have experience with education and youth service. The judge’s task is to select the most inspiring examples in each of the four categories. CYE is very grateful to the judges, our member organization, and our funders.
