FRAMEWORK FOR UNDERSTANDING POVERTY
Framework is an in-depth study of information and issues that will increase the participants’ knowledge and understanding of students and their families living in the poverty culture. This workshop is designed for audiences of both elementary and secondary-level educators with adaptation and application for community, social service and faith community audiences.

The Bridges Out of Poverty seminar provides professionals who work directly with those in poverty, a better understanding of the challenges and strengths of their clients without judgment. Bridges Out of Poverty is specifically geared for organizations allowing agency employees to begin an enlightening journey towards creating a more supportive relationship with individuals living in poverty.

BRIDGES OUT OF POVERTY (DAY TWO)
Have you been to Bridges out of Poverty? Are you familiar with the Mental Models of class and the Hidden rules? Then its time for the next step - putting that knowledge to work! The training is done in a work group format that walks you through identifying ways to provide better service to your customers and build significant relationships that are necessary for program success. The training can be applied at all levels of service and is a tool for direct providers, managerial staff, and policy planners.
Because of the workgroup format space is limited in these trainings, so please register early.

TEEN DATING VIOLENCE PREVENTION TRAINING: NAMING THE PROBLEM AND FINDING SOLUTIONS
Participants in this training will: understand the dynamics of domestic violence and abuse in dating relationships particular to teens, learn the levels of prevention in regard to domestic violence, recognize the intersection of abuse and addiction, be able to incorporate relationship themes into prevention programming, identify community resources for teens experiencing violence in relationships, feel empowered to build relationships on trust with teens, accept their role as agents of change in young peoples’ lives, and commit to be an anti-violence role model.

MAKING MEDIA WORK: MEDIA 101
Can you command the attention of the media and get YOUR message across? In this 3-hour training, we’ll discuss crafting effective advertising messages, tips for taking charge in an interview and the “rules” for writing effective press releases. This training is designed for persons responsible for developing advertising and communications messages for non-profit agencies.

MASTERING THE INTERVIEW: Media 201
Using the lessons from Media 101, Kevin Mullan and Katrina Hancock (Sports Anchor WDIV, Detroit) guide participants through mock interviews and role playing to improve interviewing skills. Participants will become more comfortable in front of the camera and learn how to seize opportunities to take charge in an interview.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: THE RIPPLE EFFECT
This 3-hour workshop is filled with first hand accounts of educational material, stats and “what to do if”, for professionals and anyone in the community wanting to know more about Domestic Violence. Combining factual information along with an experience of Equine Assisted therapy/learning, our participants will be able to see just how big the ripple effect may be from one domestic violence account.

CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS WITH SUBSTANCE ABUSE DISORDERS
Partcipants in this training will learn hoow to use the DSM IV TR to dx children and adolescents with substance abuse disorders as well as how to describe the differences in adults with substance abuse disorders vs. children and adolescents. Participants will also present treatment techniques for children and adolescents who have a dx of substance abuse and discuss prevention strategies to utilize with children and adolescents who are at risk for substance abuse.
